TSD Ep 26 – Millennial sex, sexual difficulties and Pokemon Go

Jenna is back after her summer hiatus! In her return episode, Jenna and Roop catch up on his break and discuss the newest sex in the news. Research shows millennials are having less sex than those who grew up in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s despite having sex more readily available at their finger tips. Why is that? Another study finds a number of young people experience sexual problems. What are the most common ones?  The new phenomenon taking over cell phones is Pokemon Go and it’s not just kids playing. They discuss how this has effected dating and what one major state is doing to combat the negative side effects it has had. And lastly, to celebrate Anal August, they answer some listener questions that need advice on getting a boyfriend to try anal and what tips someone should do to prep for it.  Sit back, tune in and celebrate the festivities this month has to offer!

TSD Ep 22 – ASPSH’s 12th Biennial Sexuality Conference

First off, apologies for not having a podcast last week. My week got away from me with a busy week teaching, a tantra energy workshop and then attending the ASPSH sexuality conference. What a conference it was! It is so important that there are these conferences for those working in the field to discuss important topics and learn from one another how to incorporate different aspects into their work. This year’s theme was consensual sexual express. Each workshop had a stream of either youth (where consent is a huge part of our curriculum), sexual expression (where facilitators explored the depth of sexual expression and situations), sexual coercion (where normative attitudes about gender and sexuality seemingly support a culture of coercive behaviours), social media and research. I talk about some of the important information and take aways from both of the keynote speaks, Dr Jess O’Reilly and Karen b. Chan. They had some great suggestions on how to use different tools in our practice and if people haven’t heard of them before then you definitely want to google them and especially watch Jess’s Ted talk on Monogamish and Karen’s video called Jam.  I also interview a few attendees to find out why this conference is so important to the work that they do and I score an interview with Dr Jess in between workshops! She is such an inspiration for me on her background and what she is doing now. You might be able to tell I was a little nervous trying to think of the right word to say.  We discuss how she got started in the sexual health and why everyone should treat their relationship like a business.

TSD Ep 20 – Sex counselling with Cece

I am back! After a 7 week hiatus the podcast is finally up again! I had major issues with my internet and it was a whole fiasco trying to get it set up. But that is in the past and I can finally post podcasts again….hooray! I would like to apologize to all my listeners for the long break and appreciate those who have been waiting patiently for my next post. The wait is finally over.

This week’s episode is with Sex Counsellor/Sex Educator Cece Wiens who gives her professional input on top reasons people go see a counsellor and what a counsellor is actually thinking when they see you.  Mismatched libidos, spicing things up in the bedroom and having performance issues are a few of the complaints sex counsellors hear all the time. Cece gives her professional advice and I give my two cents on feelings for each. I loved getting inside the mind of a counsellor to hear how she has felt with some of her previous clients. Trying to change your partner, technology in the bedroom and trying to make your spouse look bad? Cece tells you her thoughts on these and more. I can’t be the only one who has wondered what a professional has thought about them. Find out how Cece and I became connected and just what Sex Geekdom is all about for any sex geeks in Calgary. People can find Cece on Twitter at @logicalsexpert. Enjoy the first episode back after my hiatus!

It feels good to be back 🙂

TSD Ep 13: Sex resolutions for 2016 and things to add to your sexual bucket list

How many times have you made promising resolutions at the beginning of every year to do better or be better and never end up sticking with them? I know I have! How about I suggest some resolutions that will make your sex life better that you will actually want to stick with! My friend Vicky and I discuss sex resolutions to work on this year in order to improve your sex life. Once we have agreed to work on a  bunch of things to make our sex lives better, we discuss some things to add to your sexual bucket list. They say variety is the spice of life and its time to change things up and try something new! Expanding your sexual repertoire can be fun solo or with a partner to try new ways to get off. Having a threesome has always been on the top of many people’s bucket lists so if its right for you and your partner (if you have one) I suggest you give it a go! Double the pleasure = double the fun! We discuss some boundaries to set if you are adding a third party to your relationship and some advice for an exit strategy.

More pleasure and more orgasms should be on everyone’s bucket list year after year! Listen up, take notes and have some sexy fun this year!

TSD Ep 11: Worst types of sex partners, naming your privates, craziest hook-ups

Happy New Years sexy ninjas! For the first episode to kick off 2016, Jenna, Monica and Roop finish off their hilarious conversation with their special guest Stu. He dishes on his turn ons, gives you his best blow job tips (which is how Monica got so good) and kinky past partners. Roop lets us in on a Calgary secret about a rumoured sex club hidden in the basement of a place we all know and love. And with some help from Cracked.com I discuss some of the worst types of sex partners and we share our experiences with each. Find out if you have encountered any in your sexual past or if your with one now! If so, it’s a new year meaning a new you and one without bad sex partners! As we know, masturbation techniques can vary from person to person so when Stu find’s out how Roop has been doing it all along, he can’t help contain his amusement. We end the episode with our thoughts on masturbation at your parents house and our craziest hook-up so far.

Hope your 2016 is starting off to be a sexy one!

TSD Ep 4: Turn ons, butt play and fantasies

After taking a two week hiatus to respect Remembrance Day, The Sex Dojo is back with another episode! This week Monica , Roop and I discuss some of our turn ons, fantasies and Monica’s love for prostate massage.

Considering that your brain is the largest sexual organ, it’s no wonder that your mind gets most creative when it comes to sex. Fantasies are a great way to get you in the mood and provide more intimacy between you and your partner(s). Studies show that those who fantasize have sex more often, engage in a wider variety of erotic activities, have more partners, and masturbate more often than those who don’t. Everyone fantasizes even if they won’t admit it. It is a place you can imagine having sex with anyone, anywhere, in any scenario and no one ever has to find out if you don’t want to share! Fantasies can be very private and many people don’t feel comfortable being vulnerable and sharing them for fear of being judged by others. So if anyone ever divulges their deepest darkest fantasy to you, thank them for sharing! It probably took them a lot of course to tell you. If it’s not something you are into just say, “it’s not my thing” but never say anything like, “that is sick. You are twisted.” Find another fantasy you both can enjoy. This episode can get you thinking of about what fantasies might turn get your juices flowing. Don’t be ashamed, be proud of how creative you can get with with your sexual thoughts!

What’s another way to help you have better sex? Figuring out your turn ons! As Scott Haltzman, M.D., clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at Brown University once said, “knowing what will turn you on — and why — is key to a great sex life because it gives you control over your own please ,” Instead of waiting to get excited, you should learn how to make it happen.  I  encourage you to explore your own body and figure out what exactly gets you going.

Keep it sexy!

*trigger warning* we talk about rape fantasy in this episode
